Raymond Harris, Jr.
for State Representative - District 50
A SERVANT, A LEADER, A VOICE.

Meet Raymond Harris, Jr.

Candidate for Louisiana State Representative – District 50

I am a 1977 graduate of Franklin Senior High and a proud graduate of Southern University where I graduated with a B.S. in Accounting. I am a lifelong resident of Franklin, Louisiana. My parents believed that a good education was foundational to success in life and they encouraged each of their 8 children in this regard.

After graduating from Southern University, I returned home and began my career in the Finance Department at Franklin’s City Hall. For the next 17 years, I worked as an accountant and then as Chief Financial Officer for the City of Franklin.

It was during these years that I gained experience in such matters as budgeting, cash flow management, investments, fixed assets inventory and debt portfolio management.

I was elected Mayor of Franklin in 2004 and being fiscally prudent served me well in this position.  My tenure as Mayor lasted from October 2004 to June 2018.  During which time I experienced the ebbs and flows of revenues in an up and down, oil and gas heavy economy. During the lean years we kept spending down. During the good years we invested in our infrastructure.
